Bristol Comic & Zine Fair 2017

What an incredible day!

BCZF 2017 was, hands down, our biggest and best year yet. We returned to The Station as usual, but this time took over The Kitchen, opening up the whole of the ground floor for the seventh Bristol Comic & Zine Fair.

With 80 exhibitor tables hosting more than 100 artists, it was our busiest year, but we always had room to breathe. The atmosphere was chilled out all day. Find out the extra steps we took to improve access here.

Congratulations to our Creative Youth Network group. In the run up to BCZF 2017 we ran a series of zine-making workshops at The Station (led by Esme Betamax & Paul Ashley Brown). You are a very talented bunch and you really did us proud. Keep up the good work.

Thanks to everyone who donated funds towards BCZF. Keeping table prices as low as possible, and keeping the event free to the public is crucial to ensuring Bristol Comic & Zine Fair is accessible to all. We rely on donations to keep going, so please consider donating here. Much love to those who have helped us along the way: Roll for the Soul, Crofters Rights, The Volunteer Tavern, Bucks Quizz, The Sad Ghost Club, Mish Majora, Not Now, Robyn, Fat Flyers

Well done to all of our exhibitors. A wonderful community of people. Keep doing what you are doing, and support each other. If you missed them, you can find our Spotlight Exhibitor interviews here.

Huge thanks to our Dynamic Duo Hannah & Chloe for organising fundraisers throughout the year, overseeing our workshops, looking after our team of volunteers, and for showing such enthusiasm on the day itself. Big thanks to Lize Meddings for producing a stunner of a poster for us and running a Sketchbook Club workshop for us.

Thanks to our volunteer team Tom, Matilda, Steve, Laura & Emily for being calm, capable and hardworking throughout the event. A special shoutout to exhibitors Alex, Sammy & Wai Wai as well as Mike & Simon, for displaying brute strength carrying tables. If your shoulders ache as much as mine, I am truly sorry.

The speakers at our Panel Discussion: Community were outstanding. Lily Green (No Bindings), Will Taylor (Two-Tone), Jude Lau and Tom Whitehead (Printhaus) were eloquent and informative speakers. A delight to talk to, and an inspiration to the creative community.

Our double venue of The Station and The Kitchen. We couldn’t have asked for better hosts. Huge thanks to Rachel and Becca for looking after us. Extra special thanks to Abi for supporting us every year. You are a star.

Finally, to my fantastic wife Amy, for your love, support, and hard work, thank you.

Esme Betamax (BCZF Director)
