We are expecting to see an absolutely fantastic bunch of exhibitors at Bristol Comic & Zine Fair 2017. As usual, there will be a good mixture of familiar faces and new names. If you love someone’s work, please make sure that you tell them so. It’s this kind of support which keeps us all going!
This year we will be following our own advice, and having our first Spotlight. This is a selection of exhibitors who we really don’t want you to miss. We have taken time to ask them some probing questions about creativity and life and they have been kind enough to share their thoughts and feelings.

BCZF Spotlight: B Mure

What are you reading?

I’m rereading Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay on nature, which is very goooood

Early bird or night owl?

Sometimes I am both which is a horrible combination!

What’s on your headphones at the moment?

I am relistening to Beat the Champ by the Mountain Goats and Mount the Air by The Unthanks which are both beautiful and kind of crushing.

Where do you work best?

Kitchen tables are great. very inconvenient for everyone else. sacrifice your kitchen table to your live in artist

Who is your art/creative hero?

I find this one so hard because there are bits of many artists from different practices I love. I think about Charles Avery’s work a lot and last year I saw an exhibition by an artist called Bharti Kher and her sculptures in particular have stuck in my mind a lot

If you could deliver one piece of advice to your 14 year old self, what would it be?

I would tell them to never wear a beige cardigan, or a purple corduroy hat, or that awful brown ribbed turtleneck. and they would never listen

Who should we be following on twitter/instagram?

@ivyatoms on twitter is soooo goooooooooood and @jacobvjoyce on instagram who is an amazing multitalented artist

How long have you been making zines/comics?

Nearly 10 years now, I did a lot of stuff when I was younger that has been trashed or hidden in a back cupboard somewhere

Weapon of choice

Bricks.

Recommended zine/comic

Part time Cafe Assistant by Lottie Pencheon is one of my all time favourites! And I go back and read Recovery Blogger by Remy Boydell a lot too
